Pinktober drive continues in Doha as Millennium Plaza Doha offers Pinktober Brunch throughout this month. Happening every Friday at Circle Restaurant, the Pinktober brunch features an international buffet with subtle touches of pink to raise awareness of Breast Cancer Awareness (and early detection).
Among all the buffets around town, Circle’s is on the modest side. It covers all the bases: soups, salad, mains, and desserts. It also has a special kids section and two live stations: pasta and crepe. While others might say that it is a bit underwhelming, I find it just fine. You get the chance to sample everything and take a pick. The place is roomy and has plenty of seats for patrons on a busy Friday. An outdoor smoking area is also available.
Among the dishes I tried are:
Yay or Nay?
Keeping it real, my experience was a mixed bag. While I appreciate the rather modest buffet size which enabled me to try almost everything, I find that the overall quality was just alright, and no-single dish stood out as “highly recommendable.” I understand that taste is very subjective and we all have varying palettes. But, given that this is so-called “International” buffet, it is still leaning towards the Arabic side which most probably is the restaurant’s patron. I wish there was more variety with the selection.
Among the dishes I tried, I liked the quiche and the grilled asparagus the most. The quiche has the right balance of savory goodness while the asparagus has kept its color and crispiness. I was initially excited to see the beef wellington alongside with the grilled chicken, but while the meat was tender and the puff pastry has the right thickness, it lacked taste. The gravy that I was offered with didn’t do the trick and it was a bit too thick and had the subtle sweetness to it. Maybe it was their own take on it, but it was just not my cup of tea.
Despite such comments, I am still looking forward giving it another shot soon. Priced at QAR 175, it might appear steep as compared to other Friday brunches that offer a wider buffet selection with the same price point. To address this, Millennium Plaza Doha is currently offering a Buy 1 Get 1 Promotion. Similarly, Entertainer users can also avail of this promotion using their application. With current promotion, it is one of the value-for-money-Friday-brunches in Doha for families who would like to dine out on a Friday.
