5 Reasons Why U should B at C. Taste this Friday

Let the mid-week brunch preview begin.

In an uber-competitive and seemingly crowded market of brunch places, another restaurant tries to make a mark on your list of top go-to restaurants. I recently joined a Blogger’s Brunch held at C.Taste to preview their Friday brunch offering. It was great mid-week catch up with fellow foodies and social media savvies.

Plenty of spaces for bigger groups.

Unlike other Friday brunches, C.Taste’s is a little more modest and simple. You won’t get overwhelmed with a wide and lavish spread of food but mind you, you won’t get underwhelmed either. Think of a more laid back and homey brunch set up, best shared with family or your closest friends.

1. S-S-S (Seafood, Salad, Sushi)

Get your dose of Vitamin Sea with the freshest seafood you would surely love. Heaps and heaps of shrimps, crabs, and mussels will greet you as you start your weekend gastronomic adventure. Pescatarians and seafood lovers alike will be in for a treat.

Goat cheese and sun-dried tomato.

Get your greens with interesting choices at the salad bar. My personal favorite (which unfortunately I missed taking a photo) was the Mussel Salad.

The sushi selection is on a more limited side and honestly underwhelming. I’m happy to see its inclusion and would love to see improvement on my next visit. Props to the mosaic sushi.

2. Angus Beef

Carnivores will have their fair share of succulent meat as C.Taste boasts a grill station offering an array of meat cuts from Australian Angus to beef short ribs.

I had a slice or two of these fork-tender, melt-in-your-mouth goodness and I suddenly asked why am I keeping myself a pescatarian after all? Sorry but not sorry.

If you are particular with your meat, the chefs will gladly cook your meat according to your liking. I prefer my meat to be rare. Always.

3. The Pasta Negra

Too hard to miss.

Apart from the usual tomato-based pasta sauces offered in their live cooking station, I will vouch that Pasta Negra is a dish you shouldn’t miss.

I am a huge pasta eater myself and Pasta Negra (spaghetti in squid-ink sauce) is one of my few personal favorites. I’m glad to see that they have it in their buffet spread. An absolute rare-find, don’t forget to have a generous heap.

4. Sweets for Everyone

Have your sweet tooth fix with a selection of pastries and desserts. From traditional Umm Ali to macarons, Turkish sweets to mousse shots, there is a little something for everybody.

I opted to try the macaron but it was on a little too crispy and dry for my taste. I missed the banana crumble which the other bloggers found really nice. I’m glad the fresh fruit salad saved me from rather a disappointment.

5. Bang for the buck

The best and most compelling reason why you should give this a try is the value for money. While most brunches are on QAR 300-400 range per person, C. Taste Friday Brunch starts from 185QAR for water and soft beverage and from QAR249 for house beverages. I believe the asking price is very competitive and would highly appeal to budget-conscious professionals or those who are on the fence of having a relaxed weekend meal with their friends. The trend of affordable weekend brunches is getting popular lately and I can’t complain. I am looking forward to see more restaurants offer more budget-friendly options in the coming months.
