Chi’Zen, one of Doha’s popular and multi-awarded Chinese restaurant recently held a Media Night to launch new dishes in their menu and celebrate their continuing popularity among Qatar’s diners. Offering that sophisticated dining experience

Breaking the stereotype of Chinese food to take aways and deliveries, Chi’Zen aims to redefine Chinese food that is “so good, you must dine in”. Staying true to their recent tag line: “It’s not your usual Chinese takeout”. Peter Tong, Country Operations Manager, Foodmark, Qatar graciously welcomed everyone who joined the launch. Selected food bloggers, social media personalities and members of the press were among the ones present during the event.

The Menu

The menu was an interesting mix of Chi’Zen’s signature best-sellers and new items they would like to introduce to Qatari market.

Yang Chao Fried Rice: A bit under-seasoned for my liking.

Crispy Beef Chili: I liked that the beef remained reasonably crunchy even after a while and it has that slight hint of sweetness and mild spiciness.

I wish there was a little more Lemon to this Lemon Chicken as it was less lemon-y than what I usually expect from this dish.

A popular Chinese dish, Kung Pao Chicken is a spicy stir-fry originating from Sichuan Province in China.

New to Menu: Sizzling Szechuan Lamb which combines the Chinese and Arabic flavors in one delightful dish.

Dessert

The Ginger Creme Brulee has that rich creme with the crispy sweet sugar crust on top and a mild hint of ginger.

Impressions

While my experience was a bit of a mixed bag, I have my personal favorites which I will be definitely coming back to give it another try (or even more). If that Chinese food craving hit you, Chi’Zen is a great fix. The dimly-lit room and the chic interiors surely will bring a unique ambiance to your overall dining experience. The head chef beams with pride that most of their ingredients and spices are directly being imported from Shanghai and Singapore to guarantee that Chinese authenticity.

The overall look and ambiance reflect the rich Chinese culture.

Thanks Nadia. If only the lights were not too yellow, photos could have been a lot better. They are delicious anyway.

See you around soon. Take care!
