From Farm to Fork: What Food Safety is All About

You’ve got it all planned. Guest list is ready. The menu is final. You’re on your way for hosting an epic Iftar this Ramadan! Your list might be all ticked off but one important thing is missing: Food Safety.

As Ramadan starts, plenty of dinner invites will spawn. What could be an epic recipe to success could turn into an absolute disaster if poor food preparation and safety will not be exercised.

Food Safety Starts At Home

Industry leader Boecker recently held a free training session to not only promote proper food preparation but emphasize the importance of food safety in our daily routine. As Boecker Country Manager (Qatar) Carla Ghaleb says: “Food safety should not only be practiced in restaurants and hotels. More importantly, it should be practiced at home. It doesn’t only involve in preparation and cooking. It starts at the time we buy food in the supermarket and how we store leftovers at home.

Being in the industry for 20 years, Boecker is the Gold Standard when it comes to food safety. They recently started the initiative of offering free sessions to homemakers and common consumers about proper food safety procedure. They aim to correct misinformation and bust long-standing food myths that could potentially harm the family. Most common cases are food poisoning and salmonella.

As I foray into food and travel blogging, I am now taking an even closer look into the preparation and sanitary practice of every food that I review. The session shares plenty of valuable tips which are not necessarily ground-breaking but important reminders that should be in practice at all times. Boecker’s Food Safety Consultant Sarah Nahal mentioned: “Food safety doesn’t require a lot. Just common sense.”
